Applicants may be asked to submit a Statement of Purpose (SoP) with their Degrees+ application.
This is a brief (200-500 words), written statement that allows you to provide additional context about your academic accomplishments to date.
Why would I need a Statement of Purpose?
Applicants who indicate they have earned fewer than 12 college credits will be asked to submit their statement as a part of the application. Likewise, students with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or below will need to submit a statement.
What should I write about?
Here is some guidance to help you write a stellar Statement of Purpose:
In ~500 words or less, please provide a statement of academic preparedness. Tell us how your experience has prepared you for this program and how the completion of this program fits into your plans for the future.
This is also a chance for you to expand on information contained in your application or academic transcripts, explain any weaknesses that may appear on the transcript, or highlight any strengths that may not be evident elsewhere.
This information is used to help determine your overall admissibility for the program.
