Outlier.org is offering $1,000 scholarships to 5 Degrees+ students who best demonstrate curiosity and determination in their lives.
Who Is Eligible for the Scholarship
Current Degrees+ students, those who have already applied to Degrees+, and new students who apply to Degrees+ before March 9, 2023 are eligible to receive the Outlier Trailblazer Scholarship. All scholarship applicants are considered equally without regard to financial aid eligibility or status in the Degrees+ program.
Like the Degrees+ program itself, all US students age 13 or older with a high school diploma or equivalent (GED, CHSPE) are eligible to apply for the Outlier Trailblazer Scholarship, except for residents of: Alabama, Arkansas, D.C., Delaware, Georgia, Maryland, Minnesota, New Mexico, Rhode Island, Wisconsin, US Commonwealths (Puerto Rico, Upper Mariana Islands), and US Territories (Guam, American Samoa, US Virgin Islands). We also welcome international students (with TOEFL or equivalent) to apply for the Trailblazer Scholarship.
How To Apply
To apply, you must write a short paragraph describing a time you demonstrated the qualities of curiosity and determination. You must submit your scholarship application between 12:00:01 PM Eastern Time (ET) on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 and 11:59:59 PM ET on Thursday, March 9, 2023.
New applicants to Degrees+ can apply for the Trailblazer Scholarship directly through the Degrees+ application. (Your participation in the scholarship is optional and does not impact your acceptance into the Degrees+ program.) You must successfully submit the application, academic transcripts, and any supplemental documents required to be considered.
Current Degrees+ students and previous Degrees+ applicants can apply for the scholarship here.
By submitting the Outlier Trailblazer Scholarship application, you give Outlier permission to potentially use some or all of your response in marketing materials.
How the Scholarship Is Distributed
Outlier will select 5 recipients who best demonstrate curiosity and determination. Recipients will be notified via email by March 31, 2023.
Each awardee will receive a $1,000 scholarship toward their Degrees+ tuition. Recipients must be accepted into the Degrees+ program to receive the scholarship funding.
The scholarship money will be deducted directly from the recipient’s GGU bursar account in the form of $250 across 4 terms. For any recipients who are current Degrees+ students with fewer than 4 terms left in their program, or whose Degrees+ program is less than 4 terms because of transferred credits, their $1,000 scholarship will be evenly distributed across their remaining terms.
