Administrative Drops

Students who do not meaningfully participate by the time 20% of the term has passed will be administratively dropped from the course.

  • 14-week courses: 20% mark occurs during the fourth week of the course.
  • 7-week courses: 20% mark occurs during the third week of the course.

Meaningful participation includes regularly logging into the course, completing quizzes, engaging in the discussion community, and responding to outreach from our Student Success team.

How Does it Work

Prior to the administrative drop deadline, students who meet the criteria above will receive a notification from our Student Success team that they are at risk of being administratively dropped from their course. You will be given the option to proceed with the administrative drop or continue in the course

If we do not hear back from you by the Administrative Drop Deadline, we will proceed with an Administrative Drop.

Students who are administratively dropped are issued a token that can be applied to the purchase of a future course. For more information, please refer to our Refund Policy.

Unlike tokens issued for traditional drop requests, tokens issued for administratively dropped courses cannot be returned for a cash refund, even if their original token was refund-eligible. Tokens issued for administratively dropped courses are valid for 1-year from the date they are issued to be used to enroll in another course.

Other Exit Options

Students who have participated in the course, but cannot invest the time to continue may consider our other exit options. The available options vary depending on where the student is within the course. Learn more about your exit options HERE.
